Leader - Catalin Necula
Catalin Necula’s martial journey started in Shotokan
Karate. After 8 years experience in Shotokan Karate,
he began training in Bujinkan Taijutsu under Shihan Peter King,
where he achieved his black belt.
During this time, he
began to explore FMA through Tuhon Nigel Herterich of Rapid
Arnis and Master Jay Dobrin (he became an Instructor under
Master Jay Dobrin in BIFF Escrima) . He also studied
Nasubukang Arnis privately with Guro Doug Tucker, and briefly
exposed to Lameco Eskrima through Guro Benjamin Jun Pueblos,
a long time friend and training partner of the late Punong
Guro Edgar Sulite back in Philippines. In adition to this he
has briefly trained in Balintawak Arnis with
Master Alan Jones, Kalis Illustrsimo and Black Eagle Eskrima.
In May 2006 he got in touch with Matt Tucker Apprentice Instructor
in Dog Brothers Martial Arts under Guro Marc Denny-Crafty Dog
and he’s been training in this system ever since.
During the London Seminar with Guro Benjamin “Lonely
Dog” Rittiner, Cat was made Group Leader.
While studying Filipino Martial Arts, Cat, a true believer
in Cross Training, has also been training in Mix Martial Arts
with the famous Team Titan under trainer Mickey Papas. Due
to an unfortunate second injury on the left knee Cat needed
to stop training MMA but he’s hoping to resume training
once he is fully recovered.
Cat would like to thank all his former and current Instructors
and also his training partners/students for contributing to
his development as a person and martial artist. |

I work as an IT Analyst Developer for BSkyB and have been with
the company for just over 8 years now. My role involves
looking after the IT infrastructure and also developing and
maintaining software for the company.
Martial Arts Background: I was a late comer to the
martial arts world and started Yin Fu style Bagua
just over 2 years ago now. I still regularly practice
this internal Chinese martial art. About a year ago I
decided to find out about Phillipino martial arts (stick
fighting in particular) and that's what led me to find
Cat. I've been attending weekly Monday evening sessions ever
since and can honestly say that I've learnt a lot
from him during this time; from the initial days of Phillipino
stick fighting to Dog Brothers Martial Arts now. I definitely
feel like I've progressed a long way under Cat's tuition;
from not only a technical/physical fighting point
of view but mentally also. |
